January 28th (2014) I was into york's Toyota for diagnosis of a check engine light and rough idle problem. The clerk at york's Toyota advised me of (2) recalls on my pickup truck (ball joint & spray frame) and said 'we will call you to schedule when to have these completed at no cost to you'. February 6th while driving southbound on interstate 95 at the posted speed of 75mph in sherman maine the front driver's side of my 2005 Toyota Tundra buckled. After pulling to side of the highway I got out of the truck and saw the front driver's side ball joint appeared to have sheered off causing damage to tie rod end, other front steering components and some front quarter panel damage. I called the maine state police which completed an accident report. York's has refused to pay for the repairs to the vehicle. My insurance refuses to pay because the cause of the accident was a recalled part. Toyota corp in California has refused to pay for all the repairs to my vehicle stating the ball joint recall was for premature wear and since my truck has 150,000miles it doesn't qualify. This is completely unacceptable. A recall was issued and Toyota is refusing to fix the recalls and the damages.

Took my Tundra into the dealer for the brake TSB and had them look at the front end because it has had a hard time staying aligned during the first 20k miles. (I've had it aligned twice - both times it ends up pulling to the right) Anyway, the dealer is going to replace the tie rod ends. I had a recall letter from Toyota regarding frame rust. It was to be done at no charge. When the dealer inspected the frame, they said the truck qualified for frame replacement at no charge. When the work was beginning, however, I received a phone call stating numerous parts had to be replaced because they were destroyed during the frame replacement process. I was told it was not negotiable and I would have to pay for them. These included all shocks, tie rods and ends for $350. Also, they suggested replacing the steering rack and radiator cap for an additional $650. I have contacted Toyota corporation to try to get the real story of what is covered and what may not be covered.

Vehicle was being driven approx. 35 mph when ball joint failure occurred. Lower passenger side ball joint was at fault. Ball under socket separated allowing tire to swing 90 degrees and jam under frame. Cv axle was torn from front differential housing upon failure. Differential oil loss occurred. Tie rod, upper ball joint and brake line remained intact. Body damage resulted on front passenger fender.

The right front steering tie rod on my 2006 Toyota Tundra rusted and totally disconnect. I have 48000 miles on the vehicle. Toyota company would not repair it under warranty. I believe the problem is connect to the ball joint recall problem on the Toyota Tundra.

I was driving to my local mcdonald's drive through and I felt something unusual on my steering wheel. I got out and checked near front suspension and I found out that the tie rod on the right side is broken/disconnected. I was fortunate enough not to experience this broken tie rod on highway.

- while driving at 55 mphthe 2003/Toyota/tundra ran into the retainer wall because the tie rod on the passenger's side snapped, lifting the truck. On January 11 2006 the dealer fixed the recalled tire rod end and ball joint. The contact believed that they should have also replaced the entire rod itself, they did not. He had the truck for seventeen days when the tie rod snapped. This almost killed his entire family. His was told to call the hot line by the dealer. The current and failure mileage were both 41000.

I drove off the highway and it felt like the truck was steering itself. I had this steering problem since it was new- dealer said it was tire balance and later shocks- but ' we won't throw parts at it'- a independent shop replaced the tie rod and the steering veering off stopped. The problem was noticeable when I was driving and going around curves- the truck was hard to control- shook and needed steering help.

While driving at 45 mph the tie rod broke, then the vehicle suddenly pulled to the left on flipped unto its side.
